Samsung HD LCD TV
Samsung has been a leading manufacture of HD LCD tvs and with good reason. They produce an
incredibly picture quality at an affordable cost and this latest series is no different.
Keeping up to date with the latest tv models can be a challenge at times. In March 2008
Samsung came out with it's newest line of LCD tvs. Let me try to briefly explain the naming
scheme for the tvs and then give a brief review of the available models
Samsung LNxx series
Some of the most highly regarded and popular selling Samsung LCD tvs are:
This line is the LNxx models that replace the popular LNT series
tvs. The xx represents the size of the tv. Samsungs LCD tvs are available in 22,
26, 32, 37, 40, 46 and 52inch models.
There are also a number of different series available for each size. A series is
represented by a three digit number at the end.
- Series 3 - A330
- Series 4 - A450
- Series 5 - A530, A550
- Series 6 - A650
- Series 7 - A750
- Series 8 - A850
- Series 9 - A950
So lets put it all together. Say you are looking online for a new tv and you see the
popular new Samsung LN46A550P. This is Samsung's 46 inch series 5 LCD.
Samsung LCD reviews
LNxxA330/A450 - These series 3 and 4 models are an entry point into the LCD tv
market. These models are capable of producing 720p content with a 6ms response rate.
The A330 has an 8000:1 contrast ratio, while the A450 goes up to 10,000:1. These are
certainly respectable specifications, but ones that have been surpassed by the newer models.
This series is available in the up to 40 inch model and is good for a bedroom, a kitchen or
even for use with a computer, but not ideal for a home theater tv.
Samsung LNxxA530/A550
These series 5 models are a popular entry point for home theater setups as they are full 1080p
tvs with a quick 5ms response time and 20000:1 contrast ratio for the A530 and a 30000:1 for the
A550. These tvs are available in the 37 inch and larger models.
These LCDs have crisp, detailed pictures and bright, vibrant colors with deeper blacks.
The screen tries to take the best of both worlds of previous models. Previous models had a
matte or glossy screen. The glossy screen helped in producing high contrast ratios, but some
felt the screen was overly reflective and distracting in less then ideal light settings. The
new models have what could be considered a semi gloss screen that helps provide a satisfying
picture without the distracting reflections.

Samsung LN52A550P 52-inch 1080p LCD HDTV are popular models in this series
Samsung LNxxA650
These series six LCDs take build on the strengths of the A550 by adding a 50000:1 contrast ratio
for even deeper blacks and a wide range of color. They also have an even quicker response
rate of 4 ms. While the other series are 60hz tvs, the A650 is a 120hz tv which combined
with the 4ms response rate provides for amazingly smooth motion. The Auto Motion Plus (AMP)
120hz setting has improved performance over the previous 71p models.
The A650 series offers a stylish, unique bezel that adds a touch of amber to the bezel and
also adds a new feature called infolink for accessing news, sports, stocks and weather on your
screen at the touch of button.

Samsung LN52A650A 52-inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color are popular home theater tvs in this series.
In addition to the specifications of the individual series, the Samsung tvs offer HDMI
compatibility, swivel stands and Energy Star compliance, using less energy while saving you
money.
